The 9th WACBE World Congress in Bioengineering

The 9th WACBE World Congress in Bioengineering took place from August 16-19, 2019 in The National Taiwan University.
The WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering focused on the ways that biomedical engineering approaches drive innovation technologies and provide solutions that impact clinical medical practice. This meeting offers a platform, which the researchers and trainees can collaborate on the translation of biomedical technologies from the laboratory to clinical ventures. The Congress attracted about 400 delegates from over the world, including academic researchers, industry practitioners, medical officers, business leaders and students. They were gathering in the Congress to share their experience on bioengineering and had showcased the contributions that biomedical engineers brought to health care, with applications that affect the quality of life for people.

The 8th WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering

The 8 th WACBE World Congress in Bioengineering took place from 30 July to 2 August 2017 in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The Congress was organized by The World Association for Chinese Biomedical Engineers (WACBE), hosted by Interdisciplinary Division of Biomedical Engineering, chaired by Professor Ming Zhang.

Welcome Message

On behalf of the organising committee, it is my pleasure to invite you and your colleagues to attend the WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering 2015, which will be held in Singapore, from 6 to 8 July 2015, hosted by the Biomedical Engineering Society (Singapore).

The World Association for Chinese Biomedical Engineers (WACBE) organises this World Congress biannually. Our past congresses have brought together many biomedical engineers from over the world to share their experiences and views on the future development of biomedical engineering. The 7th WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering 2015 in Singapore will continue to offer such a networking platform for all biomedical engineers.

The Congress will cover all related areas in bioengineering and special symposiums will be arranged. Apart from the scientific programmes including invited plenary and keynote speeches, special symposia, free paper presentations and product exhibition, there will also be student activities and social programmes for accompanying spouses.

The 6th WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering

Beijing, China, August 5-8, 2013

The 6th WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering was successfully held in Beihang University, Beijing, China, on August 5-8, 2013. The congress covered a wide variety of areas in bioengineering including biomechanics, biomaterial, rehabilitation, tissue engineering, biomolecular engineering, biomedical image, biosensor, etc., and offered an interdisciplinary platform for bioengineers to share and exchange experiences, suggestions and opinions. Over 400 participants around the world gathered in Beihang University for 4 days of scientific communication.

We gratefully invited Prof. Shu Chien (University of California San Diego), Prof. Savio Woo (University of Pittsburgh), Prof. Chien Ho (Carnegie Mellon University), Prof. Kam Leong (Duke University), and Prof. Depei Liu (Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) to give plenary speeches on the essential themes in Bioengineering. We also gratefully invited 38 experts to give 20 invited keynote and 18 session keynote speeches in the congress.

The World Association for Chinese Biomedical Engineers (WACBE) organises biannual World Congresses. The first congress was held at Taipei in December 2002; the second was held at Beijing in September 2004; and the third was held at Bangkok in July 2007, and the fourth was held at Hong Kong in July 2009. All the four congresses brought together many biomedical engineers from all over the world to share their experiences and to exchange views on the future development of biomedical engineering. The 5th WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering 2011 in Tainan will continue to offer such a networking forum for bioengineers to keep abreast of the latest development of the field.

The World Association for Chinese Biomedical Engineers (WACBE) will hold its 4th WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering 2009 in Hong Kong, China, from 26 to 29 July 2009, hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with supports from many other institutions and professional societies.

The Association organizes biannual World Congresses. The first congress was held at Taipei in December 2002; the second was held at Beijing in September 2004; and the third was held at Bangkok in July 2007.
